UK-based Organic Spanish Foods Distributor, Sibarita, Launches, Eyes Local £2.9 Billion Sector
Sibarita aims to make organic Spanish foods more easily available to increasingly health-conscious British and global consumers. With a billion-dollar industry gaining momentum, the digital organic marketplace is set to make a splash amidst the sector’s post-pandemic boom.
Sudbury, United Kingdom, 2 June 2021 - SIBARITA, Spain’s Organic Larder, announced its break into the organic foods market today with over 200 products on its newly launched website. The locally based company sources and distributes plant-derived food including rice, seeds, and oils, amongst many others, from family-owned businesses in Spain. With a wide range of organic Spanish foods across types and brands, Sibarita caters to a growing demand for natural and transparently sourced food amidst today’s frail health climate.
Most of Sibarita’s plant-derived products are produced in the northern regions of Spain, from Cataluña and Navarra in the East to León and Asturias in the West, regions which enjoy higher rainfall and less extreme temperatures. The organic food distributor works with small producers who are highly innovative and continuously create new products while retaining their Spanish tradition.
“We understand the importance of eating healthy food especially during a time where immunity is so important. Our naturally farmed and sourced traditional Spanish foods uphold the integrity of what organic means, and we’re committed to offering only high quality produce,” said Allan Blinks, Founder of Sibarita.
Spain is widely considered the leader in organic food production within the European Union (EU). According to the 2018 Ecological.Bio report on the organic sector in Spain, the country ranked first in the EU and fifth in the world with 2.01 million hectares of organic agricultural area, making it clear that it is geographically poised to grow and export superior organic produce.
According to The Soil Association Certification’s 2021 Organic Market Report, the organic food industry in the UK is worth £2.79 billion today and is expected to hit close to £3 billion at the end of this year. In 2020, more than £50m per week was spent on organic food and drink, contributing to a 12.6% growth in sales despite the weakening economic climate and nation-wide lockdown. This means that the UK’s organic food market has now reached its highest growth rate in 15 years.
This comes as no surprise as the COVID-19 pandemic has made consumers more aware of the relationship between nutrition and health, with many placing strong focus on food safety. The Euromonitor International’s Voice of the Consumer Lifestyles Survey conducted in January-February of 2021 revealed that 53% of consumers globally consider the label “Organic” as trustworthy, being one of the most trusted among green labels.
“We’re excited to launch amidst heightened enthusiasm in organic foods here, and look forward to serving consumers in the UK and beyond,” Blinks continued.
With 34% of consumers in the UK cooking at home during the pandemic and intending to continue doing so after the pandemic subsides, Sibarita’s easy-to-follow organic recipes make dining at home simpler. From food sourcing to shipping, and to food preparation, Sibarita offers a truly farm to table experience.
